Credit goes to Caribou. Credit goes to Four Tet. Credit goes to Pablo Picasso who possibly once said, “good artists borrow, great artists steal.” You can call this borrowing or stealing, but it's just a cover song. For me, practicing what other artists/musicians have already done contributes to the creation of new art/music. To me, 'the creation of new art' means going backwards in order to find a reminder of what has been true about the human condition all along. At the core, all artists are coming up with different ways to tell the same story. I've always wanted to feel like a part of this family of story-tellers. But before my version comes out, I felt it was necessary to pay homage to the artists formerly mentioned. They helped identify a feeling within myself (as any great artist does). This feeling is apparent and evolving on more tracks to come. For that, I am always indebted to the musicians involved in the original versions of this song.
The sole recording from this Brooklyn group, “Service” is hushed and mysterious, its artful songs defying easy categorization. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 28, 2023
A theatrical change of pace for the Australian double bassist, vocalist, and composer; neoclassical splendor with a cathartic undertow. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 18, 2023
